Grey to White on CD

Surrounded by stacks of vinyl records from the most classic of rock artist, age 3 was when Johnathan Newlin first fell in love with music. By the age of 8 his family says he knew all the words to most any Zeppelin, Dylan or Stones song you could throw at him. In later childhood, 4 years spent in Nashville, TN., made a further musical impression on Newlin as his parents took him to see Johnny Cash among other artist at the Grand Ole Opry. At age 15 he began to get serious about song writing and playing the guitar. By this time his influences had evolved to include bands like the Smiths, The Replacements, and Love and Rockets. By 18 Newlin joined his first band and quickly realized the thrill and exhilaration of playing live music. The next 3 years were spent touring the college circuit and promoting the group's E.P. 'Pass The Buck'. Though these times were ultimately reflected on as a positive experience of learning and artistic growth, the band eventually parted ways, and Newlin chose a different path, pursuing the call of higher education. With a doctorate degree now in hand in the field of medicine, Newlin has decided to return to the call of music and has recently completed a full length disc entitled Grey to White which is scheduled to be released 01/20/09. His current influences include The Pixies, Arcade Fire, Prince, David Gray, Elliot Smith, Bob Dylan, Sufjan Stevens, Van Morrison, and Let's Active. Newlin's motto: Life's best dishes are served on plates full of passions carefully balanced. Creating music is certainly one of Newlin's best dishes and the passion reflected in his songs are obvious.
