Straight from the Heart on CD

Straight from the heart...ask any songwriterand you will get the same answer, that songs written straight from the heart are the easiest and best songs to compose. I have written these songs with a purpose. Many years ago whilst in the Merchant navy, I was often asked to write love letters for my crew mates to send home to their loved ones. I never realised at the time that this would lead to me writing love songs of my own. Everyone, at some time or other goes through a love crisis and I'm no different, maybe more so than others, and 'A heartbeat away' sums up a poingnant phase in my life when I lost the love of my life, later to regain that love. The words 'I should have said I loved you' encapsulates that for me, and maybe you. I like to think that these songs tell of a life of ups and downs but I would hope that for someone lost for words at a critical moment will find the right words to say from these songs. Maybe just play the song and say these are the words I want to say to you. I have written many songs for other people over a long carreer. I started in music at 14 years of age in a school band, and friends and colleagues have finally persuaded me to record an album for myself. 'Home for Christmas' for example almost happened to me when I struggled to make it home one Christmas eve, but thankfully I managed to get home in time to be with my family. I have included a very tongue in cheek number !It's a pity'. No offence meant to ladies though a few fellows might want to ponder over the lyric. I hope maybe something in these songs will strike a chord to all listeners in one way or another, anyway thank you for taking the time out to read and listen to my songs wishing you lots of love and happiness, John.
