2007 SAMMY AWARD FOR BEST R&B ALBUM!!! Jimmy Cavallo [Cavello] was born in Syracuse New York, March 14, 1927. At age 16, Jimmy joined a 15 piece local big band in Syracuse playing dances on weekends. By 1948 he held court in Carolina Beach laying the groundwork for the celebrated shag dance movement that thrives there to this very day. Jimmy was inducted into the North Carolina Beach ' Shag Hall Of Fame'. He auditioned for Alan Freed whose influence led to Jimmy being signed by Coral Records where he recorded and released 6 singles with Coral Records. He performed on Alan Freed's 'Second Anniversary' Live show for nine days at the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in 1956. Also, in December 1956, he appeared at New York's historic Apollo Theatre [becoming the first white rock and roll act to play the Apollo] weeks before Buddy Holly. Jimmy appeared in and sang the title song for Alan Freed's cult movie classic 'Rock, Rock, Rock'. Jimmy has been playing around the world and settled in Pompano Beach Florida. Jimmy was nominated for a W.C.Handy comeback artist of the year award. Jimmy has recorded 3 CD's for PetCap Music over the last 6 years, one of which was a #1 hit, 'Jimmy Cavallo Live at The Persian Terrace'. 'Jimmy Cavallo Live at Freddy's' and his current release 'Jimmy Cavallo and The Houserockers Rock, Rock, Rock, Then and Now' are doing very well. Jimmy's signature song 'Fanny Brown' is still very popular worldwide as is 'Rock The Joint', 'Leave Married Woman Alone', 'The Big Beat', 'Cherry Pie' and many more. His album 'Rock Rock Rock' demonstrates that Jimmy Cavallo and The Houserockers still can!!! 2007 SAMMY AWARD FOR BEST R&B ALBUM!!!
