Description

Jim Lade on CD

This eponymously titled CD of instrumental compositions contains a fusion of jazz, rock, funk and latin styles recorded in Tasmania, Australia. The CD features the compositions of composer/arranger/guitarist Jim Lade with a number of supporting Tasmanian musicians - virtually each track employs a different line-up, including a number of tracks with horn sections. The eight-page booklet lists the players on each composition and also gives a brief description of the compositional process utilized in each work. With the exception of Jim, the only other performer to appear on all tracks is bass player David Lade, who also provided the cover photograph of a Tasmanian wilderness scene. Although the CD was recorded in the mid-to-late 80s, it was recently remastered and 2009 is the first date of release. Comments about the CD include: "I really like your CD Jim. Great compositions." Brendon Siemsen Musician and College Music Teacher 'The work of composer James Lade demonstrates virtuosity, sensitivity, and maturity as it filters his eclectic influences through the prism of his strong musical personality. Diversely metered, groove based improvisations are framed by a variety of orchestral settings that by turns echo a range of contemporary compositional icons, from Mingus to Zappa to Hermeto Pascoal.'
