Only You on CD

Jim Canty is a trumpet player and bandleader living with his wife, Linda, in Aquia Harbour, a community in Stafford, VA, near Fredericksburg. Growing up in the town of Oakland, located in the Western Maryland mountains, near the resort area of Deep Creek Lake, Jim started to play the trumpet at age 12 (more years ago than he will disclose.) Since those early days, Jim\'s love for music has continued to grow. He has performed in service clubs including the Ft. Belvoir Officers Club, the NSWC Officers Club, and the Ft. Meyer Officers Club; for many receptions; for charitable organizations including the Virginia March of Dimes, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Salvation Army; for several political campaigns, and even once for a reception in honor of then Governor Charles Robb, and Members of the Virginia General Assembly. Today Jim continues to develop and expand his musical career. He performs as much as possible, while continuing to study in an effort to \'improve in the many areas that I have ignored over the years.\' Jim\'s music includes New Orleans Jazz, Swing, Latin, Light Rock, and even \'a touch\' of Country. He uses 2 basic groups: \'Jim Canty & Friends\', a 4-piece group, playing everything from Stardust, to Johnny B. Goode; and \'Strictly Dixie\', a 6-piece band, featuring New Orleans Dixieland Jazz. Both are popular performing for both private parties and club dates. Jim attributes much of that popularity to the musicians working with him. \'A blessing for me has been that I\'ve been able to get really exceptional musicians to work with me. I've designated myself to be the weakest member of the group - and NOBODY is going to take that job away from me\'. (The idea seems to be working well.)
