Je je Burton Thinking positive has advantages for most people, but Je Je Burton carries positive thinking a few steps further. 'It must be positive,' says the singer, 'If I can sing a song that says something and make people feel good at the same time, then it's all worth while.' This native of Chicago began her singing career at an early age singing in church and by entering local talent shows, most of which she won. As a teenager she formed a group known as the Four Queens. They performed at colleges and theaters throughout the Midwest. Ms. Je Je Burton became featured vocalist with the Mill Street Depo Band, a selfcontained versatile unit for which she recorded and did various road engagements for four years including a series of live variety/cable television shows. Ms. Je Je Burton has had the pleasure of furthering her musical education with some of the industry's most dynamic blues masters including B.B. King, whom she had the pleasure of jamming with on stage as a guest artist, Bobby Blue Bland, Percy Mayfield and Z.Z. Hill, just to name a few. She has also sang on Pop & R&B bills with Mary Wells, Martha Reeves and many others. Je Je, a very ambitious young lady, eventually ventured to Louisiana. In New Orleans, while working with several jazz ensembles, briefly studied jazz vocalizing under scat artist Jermaine Basil as well as jamming with jazz great Roland Kirk. During her New Orleans stay, Je Je exposed the' BURTON' magic to several live variety shows as leading guest artist and performed a special cabaret appearance for a leading political runner. Je Je moved to the West Coast and attended LACC where she majored in music. Recording and touring later with The Vernon Garrett Revue, where she received rave reviews from Las Vegas, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis and Little Rock, confirming that she is truly a performer known from coast to coast.
