Force, strength, conviction and style. These are all of the qualities that Jaysun possesses as one of the new and upcoming hip-hop artists. Jaysun was born in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. His father, a piano player, exposed Jaysun to many styles of music. From Cuban jazz to mainstream rock and roll, Jaysun was always accustomed to hearing different sounds from his father's stereo. Realizing his love for hip-hop music, Jaysun soon began to create his own song ideas from his own life experiences. He began his first solo project with 5x5 Productions out of Brooklyn, New York. His first single, 'Ain't Having It' was soon picked up and released by Dancing Hills Records, an independent label out of California. After touring briefly and opening up for such acts as De La Soul, Goodie Mobb and Outkast, Jaysun knew that he would have to reach a much bigger audience. In 1999, he began rehearsals for what would become the first hip-hop musical, 'Echo Park'. In this production, Jaysun would not only have to rap, but, also show off his acting skills as he played three different dramatic roles. In the summer of 2000, 'Echo Park' opened at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. The experiences of performing on that grand stage provided Jaysun with a taste of success that he had long desired. After 'Echo Park' had closed, Jaysun decided it was time to hit the studio again. His love for hip-hop could not escape him. In August 2001, Jaysun was signed to Doomzday Entertainment, Inc. Thereafter, he began recording his debut album, 'Hurry Up and Wait'. Since signing with Doomzday, Jaysun has performed at Crosstown Records Talent Showcase and Ron Alexander's Talent Showcase T.V. show, to name a few, which were huge successes. Jaysun makes his presence known with every word he spits and the energy he delivers on stage. His words carry meaning and purpose. His lyrics will soon have everyone know where Jaysun is coming from. Jaysun's hot debut album, 'Hurry Up and Wait' is taking hip-hop back to the essence. It's a hip-hop album you will definitely enjoy.
