JAYMO Music and women are two of the best things in life and Jaymo's been combining them both since he was 10 years old, at first just singing to girls on his front porch and later fronting bands ranging from rock to blues to gospel to jazz. Along the way, he's acquired a reputation as a unique and powerful male vocalist. As a boy, music was a constant companion for JayMo. He soaked up the sounds of the Big Bands of Duke Ellington and Count Basie and male vocalists like Nat King Cole and Ray Charles. Later, he found rock 'n roll, then blues, admiring vocalists like Joe Cocker and Eric Clapton. Still later, he was inspired by jazz vocalists like Al Jarreau. Now, he listens to everything from Bob Schneider to John Mayer. In other words, his influences are the best from every genre. JayMo worked his way out of poverty by becoming, among many other jobs, a newspaper reporter, a factory worker, a union electrician and, finally, an attorney (no, not an ambulance chaser, a legal writer). Having achieved a moderate level of financial stability, he finally decided to bring together some of the best jazz, blues and soul musicians he's met along the way for this CD of swingin' pop, jazz, soul and blues. THE FEATURED MUSICIANS MARK LOWERY: A 24-year-old pianist who caught the ear of none other than Grammy award-winning Bobby Watson. STEVE RIGAZZI: Suffice to say that even Dave Brubeck has said he's a great bass player. TOMMY RUSKIN: One of the smoothest jazz drummers in the Midwest. ROB WHITSITT: One of the finest jazz guitarists in the Midwest, Rob toured for several years with Frank Sinatra. RICKY BROTHERS: One of the most electrifying harp players in the country, he's lately been touring with Little Feat.
