Remembering Mel on CD

More than 7 years have passed since the music world lost an irreplaceable talent, and I lost an idol. Fortunately, his music and his legend live on. Mel Tormé was a perfectionist in his craft, and yet the delivery of a song by the 'Maestro' was never exactly the same, but rather an interpretation of a specific mood in a specific place. He never liked being called "The Velvet Fog", a phrase coined by his publicist. In fact, he hated it. But it never hindered his career or deterred his followers and fans. I will truly miss his genius. September 13, 1925 to June 5, 1999. An unmatched era. I'll give you the facts. I'm a mainstream jazz singer, with a particular interest in the style of Mel Tormé, my idol! Eat your heart out, Harry Anderson! My repertoire is Jazz, Standards, the Great American Songbook and the Broadway stage, and covers a period from the 20's to the 90's. I find particular joy in performing for people that have special memories of seeing Mel perform. Their stories are priceless, and they inspire me. I love the music of Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Porter, Johnny Mercer, Jobim, Mancini, Berlin and nearly any composer and lyricist who wrote from the heart. My deepest appreciation to my musicians. Pianist/Arranger Todd Troutman; Bassist David Rees; Drummer Bob Reese; Guitarist Tommy Dunbar. Tommy also engineered the recording session. Thank you, guys.
