Jambalaya Brass Band is New York City's ultimate New Orleans party band. Kickin' it hard with a flavor straight from the streets of New Orleans. Since their inception in 1998, they have played Huntington Summer Arts Festival 2002 (opening for Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-chas), 7th Avenue Fall Street Fair 2002 in NYC, Good Day New York on Fox 5 NYC for Mardi Gras 2002, Britney Spears' 2002 Super Bowl Party, Mardi Gras 2000 for the New York Knicks half-time show, a New York Liberty's half-time show at Madison Square Garden in the summer of 2001, 52nd Street Americana Jazz Festival, Tribeca Blues, The Bayou Restaurant (Mt.Vernon,NY), Brooklyn Conservatory, Cornelia Street Cafe, The Mardi Gras Restaurant, Big Daddy's Restaurant, Chelsea Brewing Company, Town of Hemstead Summer Concert Series, Summer Plaza Series 2003 (Brooklyn Arts Council), Prospect Park Halloween Event 2003, 2004., Fulton Street Beat Series. The band was formed in 1998 by saxophonist / flutist / clarinetist / arranger / composer Ric Frank.As a composer, Ric's pen encompasses many styles, from the Renaissance-his music for The Twelfth Night as performed by the Family Repertory Company-to numerous jazz, Latin jazz, and children's songs. In addition to having received two Meet the Composer grants, his arrangement of "Unicamente Tu" is in the permanent collection of The Salsa Museum of New York. For the Jambalaya Brass Band is a group of top New York musicians that have played with Lionel Hampton Big Band, Ray Santos Caribbean Music Experience, Duke Ellington, OrchestraLuis Ramirez, Bobby Rodriguez y Nueva Compania, Todd Wolfe, Johnny Allen, Dallas Fisher, Michael J. Packer, American Renaissance Theatre Chamber Ensemble, Armando Manzanero, the Jazz Samaritans, Henry Fiol and Jerome Callet's Stratosphere Big Band, Youngblood Brass Band, Mama's Digdown Brass Band, DeFunkt, Melvin Sparks, Aretha Franklin, Melvin Sparks, Charlie Persip Big Band, Oliver Lake Big Band, Cab Calloway, Sun Ra Arkestra, Count Basie Orchestra, Yvonne Jackson and the House of Payne, The O'Jays, Jimmy Madison, Charles Neville, Loup Garu, J.C. Heard Big Band, Gumbo Ya Ya, The Temptations, David Ruffin, and The Brides of Funkenstein, to name a few.
