Hey there music lovers--Jacqui here!! I wrote all the songs on 'Glued to the Nude,' and created all the artwork as well. The arrangement of the songs as well as some of the recurring themes mirror the paintings on the front and back of the album--a dyptic done in oil paint. The 'nude' is inspired by Mary Magdalene (an early disciple of Jesus portrayed many times with red hair) and the faces 'glued' to her could be either her demons (which Jesus expelled), or her many lovers (some believe she was a prostitute). But you probably know all about Mary Magdalene already, so now i'll tell you something about me. My main musical influences are Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Antony Hegarty, and Melissa Etheridge. Spiritually, i follow the paths of Siddhattha Gotama (the Buddha), and Yeshua Ben Yosef (Jesus Christ). I come from a family of Ashkenazi Jews. My favorite visual artists are Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Frida Kahlo, and all of the early Dada-Surrealists. So now you know everything!! I hope you enjoy our album!! My name is Nicole Zwiren. I'm 24 years old and I grew up, with my sister Jacqui, in West Hollywood, California. I've been singing and acting all my life, and have pursued voice professionally ever since starring in The Sound of Music in 5th grade (I played Maria in a school production). After years of vocal training and performing in more school musicals, I decided in 2007 to work with my sister Jacqui on her first album, called 'Glued to the Nude.' I sing all the time--on a daily basis in the car, the shower, and around the house--and especially love doing renditions of my favorite artists, namely Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Janis Joplin, Lenka, Evanescence, Alicia Keys, India Arie, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Coldplay, and Keane. Though I recently graduated from UCLA with a double major in African American Studies and Anthropology, and am now studying film at Chapman University, I would like to get to work producing many more of my sister's hundreds of songs for a second original album, and a third, and a fourth, and a fifth...
