Jacco Velarde is one of Ernesto Cavour favored proteges, He was a witnes as well as participant of the musical renaissance of the bolivian Andes music, born in Sorata, at the foot of Mount Illampu, he grew up listening to and participating in the musical movement thrughout the 60's and 70's, traveling with Ernesto Cavour and his group as a quena player becoming one of a leading quena player at the famous folkloric Art's Center 'Peña Naira' in La Paz, Bolivia. Jacco Velarde first performed in Dallas Texas in 1974 with it's former group PUNA PUNKU, together with Zulma Yugar at the International Latin American Festival, sponsored by Braniff International Airlines, touring for several months inside Texas and Oklahoma, returned to Bolivia in 1975, after a successful career in Bolivia and touring all Latin America he returned to USA in 1980 leaving behind his musical career to continue his education in electronics and audio technology. In 1985 decided to continue his musical career and founded Vision Andina in Dallas, Texas with the vision to promote and educate the Andean Cultures in America through the native instruments and music of the Andes, since then Vision andina performed at major art centers and festivals in Texas, such as The Houston International Festival, Folk Life Festival, San Antonio, Texas, Texas State Fair, Dallas, Mayerson Dallas Symphony Hall, Bass Performance Hall Fort Worth, Dallas Museum and many other important organizations. In 1988 invited Ernesto Cavour to perform with Vision Andina for U.S.A. and Canada tour, performing in major Universities, radio and TV, including performances in Vancouver and Alberta, Canada, Seattle, New York, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Fenix, Tucson, Houston and Austin. In 1992, Jacco Velarde has been selected for Young Audiences of North Texas roster, since then to the present, He has been performing and presenting educational programs for elementary schoos, high schools, Libraries, JD Facilities and colleges, in 1997 He was invited by the University of Texas at Austin as Artistic Director of the UT Andean Ensemble, implementing a academic program for the ethnic instruments of the Andes for the department of Ethnomusicology. Jacco Velarde in this particular recording 'Paisaje de Condores' presents Vision Andina ensemble in collaboration with the master musician from Bolivia: Donato Espinoza of 'Savia Andina' (charango) Bolivia Takatsu Kinoshita (guitar) director of 'Luz del Andes' from Japan.
