Description

Boombala on CD

Boombala is power, anger, happiness and raw energy. It's excitement, pain, frustration and most of all hope. It's musicians coming to the United States from Africa, South America and the Caribbean and it's Americans living abroad and coming back to the US. It's what brings people together from different worlds and it's what the Infantry Rockers have lived and experienced. Boombala is the Infantry Rockers' third commercial release since they formed in 1999 and clearly shows the band's evolution and expansion from a dub collective to a hard-hitting multidimensional powerhouse of musical styles. Ragga, cumbia, reggae and other musical formats are mixed with echoes from the members' home continents to create a sound unique to the group. After the success of the Infantry Rockers' initial releases, Dubhead Records UK picked up the band to release their songs on "Dub Solidarity" and "Shake the Nations" compilations next to reggae heavy-hitters such as Rootsman, Adrian Sherwood (as 2BadCard), Vibronics, Big Youth, and Twilight Circus. The Infantry Rockers were also recently featured on Sound Imperium's "Pre-Emptive Dub Attack" (Near and Far Records), which reached #3 on Earshot.com's international chart, hit #10 on Chartattack and culminated with a strong placement in College Music Journal's (CMJ) New World Top 30 Chart. Still performing live, Infantry Rocker "Dub Insurgent" and Paul Harding of Sound Imperium recently opened for Manu Chao in New Orleans during his 2007 US Tour.
