Dance of the Sheydim on CD

The Hevreh Ensemble was formed in 2001 when oboist Judith Dansker gathered a group of highly acclaimed musicians to perform a special Selichot Concert for Hevreh of Southern Berkshire in Great Barrington, MA. Since that time, the ensemble has performed at synagogues, churches and concert venues at such places as the Springfield JCC, Northampton Center for the Arts, United Congregational Church, Torrington, CT and the Eldridge Street Synagogue. The members of the group have been honored and affiliated with such organizations as: The Julliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, The Blossom Festival among many others and have performed with ensembles such as: The Galliard Woodwind Quintet, Les Inegales, American Symphony Orchestra, Trio Sonata, New york Kammermusiker, the Berliner Bachorchester, and at such locations as Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center), Carnegie Recital Hall, the Library of Congress and the Frick Museum. They have recorded for Opus One, CRI Records, Gasparo and Carpe Diem Records. Hevreh Ensemble performances feature original contemporary American Jewish compositions by group member Jeff Adler, that combine folk, classical, jazz and world music elements. Their performances have been called: 'spiritually uplifting' and 'stikingly original'.
