Unforgettable on CD

Introducing the Music of Henry Flood If you like the classic ballads, boleros and jazz vocals of the late 1920's to the mid 1960's then you'll enjoy the singing of Henry Flood because he sings with feeling and from the heart. The ten selections on his first CD titled Unforgettable reflect a variety of singing styles. Ballads predominate but there are upbeat swing and jazz vocal tunes too with a classic Spanish bolero thrown in for good measure. Henry sings regularly on Saturdays at Miami's Hereford Grill lounge with Gilberto Benedetti who headlines the Saturday show and is the principal musician on keyboard and vocals in Spanish and English. Gilberto is a rising Latin star on Miami's lounge circuit with four CD's to his credit and he produced and directed Henry's CD. Touring the Golden Age of Standard and Jazz Vocals The ten songs featured on this CD evolved out of my regular participation in the 'Saturday Show' and at select public appearances with Gilberto and others in South Florida. Ballads predominate - especially the songs of Nat King Cole but other songs and styles are represented too. The oldest (1927) is Irvin Berlin's 'Blue Skies' and 'Nevertheless' (1935) is also an upbeat tune with a take a chance on love message. The song 'Moon River' with words by Johnny Mercer and music by Henry Mancini (1961) will always be linked vocally with Andy Williams and I try to present this classic love song in an evocative manner. The first of four Nat King Cole songs presented is 'Too Young'. The other Nat King Cole classics are 'Mona Lisa' (1949), 'Unforgettable' (1951) and the L O V E song (1964) Diana Washington's classic jazz ballad 'What A Difference A Day Made' (1959) is sung with great feeling to a contemporary arrangement that still honors the original presentation. Agustin Lara's Solamente Una Vez (1941) was my first song sung in Spanish and learned for my Mother-in-law, Caridad Martinez. Patty Paige first and subsequently Jerry Vale made 'Old Cape Cod' (1956) an enduring love song standard. I hope to take my wife there one day. About Henry Flood Henry Flood hails originally from Charleston, SC and spent many years in Washington, DC where he frequented the piano lounges and jazz clubs of the area regularly. Now living in Miami with his wife, this first CD through Happy To Croon Records fulfills a longstanding dream to sing and record. When Henry is not singing he works in the field of federal grants and American Indian law and governance. A Personal Message From Henry Flood Thank you for sampling the songs on my first CD and especially for buying it. Your purchase does far more than simply recovering the production costs. Your investment in my music also benefits young women in Central America. My forthcoming second album will help fund school scholarships for young women in El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. Thank you for making a difference and supporting Happy To Croon Records.
