On to You on CD

Hairline Fracture has a genuine chemistry on stage which is the result of a longstanding friendship. The band was originally formed in 2001 by Richard Gilbaugh and Andy O'Hara on guitar, and Sean McGivern on drums. It progressed quickly afterward, adding Tim Porter on vocals, and Ned Barclay on bass. After a modest beginning playing school functions and other local events, Hairline Fracture came into it's own, featuring prominently on the Iowa City bar scene, and events all over eastern Iowa. Voted runner-up for the best local band in Iowa City in 2004, Hairline Fracture won the honor in 2005. The band just recently finished their first album at Catamount Studios in Cedar Falls, which was released this October. As Hairline Fracture continues writing music and playing shows, they look to expand their rapidly growing fan base all over the mid-west. Review from midwestbands.com Iowa is a state that doesn't get a lot of love, no matter how you look at it! Viewed as a flyover state by those on either coast, most only know Iowa for their wheat and corn! However, as I have learned while working with MidwestBands.com, there are a lot of great bands that hail from the Hawkeye State! Iowa City, Des Moines, and the Quad Cities all have great music scenes, featuring bands that could and have competed on the national stage! And those three cities aren't the only ones that have great music scenes! For more, just look at the City/State Listings on MWB, and you'll see what I mean! I only mention this fact because Hairline Fracture is a band that is among the best of the best in the State. They began as a group of young guys in school playing music, and today, they are winning contests and claiming the title of Best Local Band in Iowa City! I am very proud to have had the opportunity to review this disc, and I think that a day will come when I won't have to go too far out of my way to describe their music to you, because their name will be all that you'll be seeing! Their music is awesome, and I hope that they will take their very unique sound as far as their dreams/talent will carry them! When you have the chance, get a copy of Hairline Fracture's On To You, and give it a listen! Like me, I think you'll give the record high ratings, and want to put it into regular rotation on your portable or your CD changer! I don't own an Ipod, but if I did, these guys would definitely be Pod-worthy! Mark Lush, Midwestbands.com, 1/12/06.
