In the Midst of the Storm on CD

Psalmist, Rev. Henry B. Blair Biography__ Henry Brian Blair, born on January 6, 1966, is an Anointed gospel singer and an ordain minister who is also the son of a Church Of Christ Holiness Pianist and Worship leader, was born in St Louis, Missouri but grew up in Alton, Illinois, deeply involved in his parent's church. He was interested in music from a very young age, reportedly singing complicated melodies from the age of five. His parents recognized him as having an unusual gifted vocal talent, at a young age. Because of his talent, he was encouraged to sing leads in the church's Youth choir, Conference choirs and seek God for guidance as he accept his calling as a Psalmist. He performed in numerous school musicals and won numerous High school vocal competitions in music ranging from R&B to Classical. Blair, a retired Infantry First Sergeant, joined the U.S. Army in 1985 and spent twenty one years serving his country all over the world, taking advantage of the many opportunities as they were presented to him to sing and ministered to hundreds of thousand of people from all cultures until his retirement December 1, 2006. During his military career he has won many honors because of his vocal gift. Some of the highlights are; the earning the honors as the Top Male Solo Vocalist in the Army on several occasions, the leading vocalist role in the 1987 U.S. Army stage play, "American Jukebox", and being crowned the winner of the first U.S. Army Korea Idol competition in May of 2004. Blair has performed, by special request, at many ceremonies throughout his military career, but will remain known for his patriotic rendition of the Star Spangle Banner (National Anthem). He also has had the privilege of performing on October 2003, for President George W. Bush in a ceremony awarding the Presidential Unit Citations to the 3RD Infantry Division after returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Blair is known for his ability to fuse modern contemporary Gospel, Jazz and R&B with his anointed, smooth voice to create a sound of praise that glorifies God and minister to broken hearted. His range is almost as boundless as it is breathtaking, employed like a finely tuned instrument: soft and tender, big and bold, and all points in between. Some of the artist that has influenced his music are; gospel greats such as Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell and R&B greats Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Peabo Bryson and Luther Vandross. Currently he is finishing a new CD due to be released in the spring of 2007, entitled 'Alone In The Desert', which features songs written while deployed to Iraq in 2005. "I'm proud that this album addresses the spectrum of life. It deals with struggles and relationships and sadness and joy. Our music - gospel music - has always been a comfort to those who are looking for some kind of encouragement in their lives."
