Description

Shadows in the Harbor on CD

The production for this project began in late spring of 2000. I wasn't really planning on doing a project at that time, but fate took another road. What started off as nothing more than a demo session quickly became much more than that. Through the guest musicians and the dedication of all who helped, I saw the importance of this work and had to take it all the way. Doing my best to leave it in God's hands I continued on with the journey ahead of me. The exploration of this song writing expedition took me to some new places via traveling down some old roads. Most of the old roads took on new life when I realized the importance and the beauty of the life that I had been given. I began to feel that Americana spirit as I became an immigrant in the very place I was born. With that came the recognition of how our descendants took a chance for a new beginning. Some made it and a lot of them experienced the grapes of wrath, but they continued on because they always sought opportunity. This life is a tough ride, but at least I am free to take that ride. So I choose to ride with faith. Growing up Catholic I have my own beliefs, just as other religions have theirs. It seems pretty universal though, that the day we are born we begin a journey to a new world. Like an immigrant that has just left Ellis Island. We live through battle grounds of right and wrong and try to make the right choice as we make our way. There is nothing political about this project even though the title may suggest it. It was designed to explore good and bad. The emotions we encounter as we journey to a new world. To search for light behind the clouds that cast shadows on the Harbor of what we have come to call an American life. May the Good Lord bless you with a safe and peaceful journey. Hope to see you in the big town.
