A Good Way to Get the Blues on CD

In a pilgrimage that has produced well over a decade's worth of exceptional and critically acclaimed bluegrass music, The Grass Cats continue to satisfy fans with their latest CD A Good Way To Get The Blues. Always aware of the connection between the songs, the performance and the listener, The Cats have produced another record that is a showcase of their crafty penmanship, stellar vocals and masterful song selection. Their original compositions have topped the charts and effortlessly entwine with thoughtfully chosen covers. As Bluegrass Unlimited magazine stated ..."the songs sound like the Grass Cats and like the original version all at once....without betraying the original version". A Good Way To Get The Blues is the long awaited follow up to 2006's Home To Carolina (that garnered #2 and #15 singles) and their seventh release for New Time Records. The CD opens with the title track, a bluesy warning - recollection that (She's) A Good Way To Get The Blues. Following is Saturday Night Company, an anthem to the Nashville-based Country Music shows that aired in the 60's and 70's. With it's catchy riff and sing-a-long chorus, it heralds back to a simpler time when Saturday nights were spent gathered around a black and white TV watching Flatt and Scruggs, The Wilburn Brothers and The Porter Wagner show. The cover of The Derailers' The Right Place manifests itself as traditional bluegrass music in it's highest form with seamless harmony and fiery instrumentation weaving a vocal and instrumental tour de force. The Cats' pulled from several different American Music genres for the balance of their CD. Rock, Pop, Reggae and old County & Western are represented from artists as diverse as REO Speedwagon, Paul Carrick and Bob Marley. Founding members Tim Woodall, Chris Hill and Russell Johnson with four year veterans Steven Martin and Lloyd Herring offer it all on A Good Way To Get The Blues. Known for powerful lead singing, perfectly blended harmonies, dynamic instrumentation, well crafted originals and cleverly arranged covers, this fine North Carolina band never disappoints.
