Description

Goodman Brown on CD

Goodman Brown is an indie pop/rock band comprised of 4 college students from a suburban town in New Jersey, with an unpredictable sound. With three singer/songwriters to their credit, they each have a different way of expressing themselves musically. They like to refer to their sound as "mixtape rock." The band understands that today's audiences like to listen to a variety of musical genres and Goodman Brown caters to this audience by giving them what they like. While their music crosses genres, there is a noticeable continuity and cohesiveness in the delivery. Their vocal arrangements show a fondness for a vintage aesthetic, but with an updated feel. Goodman Brown is able to mesh very distinct songwriting styles into a contemporary sound that reflects varied influences from The Beatles to Ben Folds; from Elvis Costello to Elton John. Goodman Brown's sound is best characterized by their catchy melodies, rich harmonies, and thoughtful, provocative lyrics. Their songs can be dark and brooding, or light and whimsical, and run the gamut from unrequited love songs to dance songs. Goodman Brown is: • Pete Bistis: lead guitar/vocals • Matt Lamastra: drums • Alex Russo: piano, keyboard, guitar, harmonica, melodica, sitar, clarinet, saxophone/vocals • Luke Saenz: bass/vocals Pat Dinizio of the Smithereens has compared Goodman Brown to The Beatles. Paul Simm, engineer for Amy Winehouse's grammy winning album, Back to Black, has said he thought with a little help, the band could be the next big thing. Upon hearing their music, Ray McVeigh of The Professionals said, "I love their stuff, very contemporary. I was pleasantly surprised." Goodman Brown has performed at various locations including: • Arlene's Grocery, New York, NY • The Knitting Factory, New York, NY • The Mean Fiddler, New York, NY • The Alphabet Lounge, New York, NY • The Rotunda, Philadelphia, PA • The Whiskey Bar, Hoboken, NJ • The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ • The Crossroads, Garwood, NJ • The Rail, Bound Brook, NJ • Chubby's, Red Bank, NJ • The Galaxy Café and Stage, South Plainfield, NJ • Future Starz, Fairfield, NJ • New York University's Unite for Rights Music Festival, New York, NY The band's debut EP is now available.
