Bouquet Baroque on CD

This record starts with Vivaldi's concerto for 5, in D major (Op.7/12) : solo violin, violin 1, violin 2, viola and 'basso continuo'. The basso is here transcribed for the viola. We continue with, G.F. Haendel's sonata for two violins and keyboard in G minor, (Op.2 /7) the present unpublished version, is orchestrated for the first time for 4 violins and one viola by the violinist and viola player Gérald Israël. The different voices were played with the same violin, in order to get an homogenous tone, nicely contrasted with the viola. We then listen a transcription for viola, of J.S. Bach's suite n° 1 for cello in G major (BWV 1007). It is again Vivaldi who takes over, with the sonata for 2 violins and no basso (RV68).We then reach the largo and allegro of J.S. Bach's sonata n° 5 for violin solo in C major (BWV 1005), the largo was played at A 415 approaching a baroque interpretation. A composition by the interpreter Gérald Israël ends the record.Modern recording techniques, enable a single musician to play all the parts, and to give his own interpretation of the work.
