- Release Date:8/26/2008
Fungus Riot came together at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA in 2006 when Duber and Jesse started writing songs together under the name \'The Vincent True\'. After making a few rough recordings, they connected up with Ben and Tom and started playing together under the moniker Fungus Riot. Pulling from the four members vast musical tastes, including bands such as Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Strung Out, Bill Withers, NOFX, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Thin Lizzy, The Allman Brothers, Metallica, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Guns \'N\'Roses, and Coheed and Cambria, Fungus Riot began creating their own style of music infusing all of their influences. In February 2007, they recorded at the Art Institute of Seattle with a friend\'s studio time, and officially became a band. Over the next year, Fungus Riot played shows all over Olympia and became a mainstay of the Olympia music scene. In January 2008, they took an opportunity to record at Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline, WA and started work on their debut record \'Hit The Lights\'. Today, Fungus Riot is preparing for the release of the album, and is regularly playing shows in Olympia and the greater Seattle area.
