Fight Dirty is made up of three Righties who somehow found themselves on the Left coast. This makes for a rather edgy trio; New York and Boston sensibilities, mixed with So-Cal sun and palm, a dash of Venice and Silverlake, a touch of gender confusion and a pinch of irony and there you have us: 'Fight Dirty: Skatin' The line between Indie and Punk-- with some tricks riot grrl style.' Guitar player Greg Urbaitis was the bass player on the Queer's first album 'Grow Up' and also played bass with Magnapop, prior to their sad breakup. In Fight Dirty, Greg took to the guitar. Bass player Vanessa Godson hailed from NYC where she played in punk/hard core band Yum Yum Tree. If you are very lucky, you may still find the YYT picture disc on Ebay! Drummer Matt Deutsch has had many projects from the East Coast to the West Coast. Have you had the good fortune? If not, come on by, let's jam! Fight Dirty formed when Vanessa put an ad in the LA papers searching for a 'Replacements Cover Band'. She found Greg, who called her and said 'Hey I play bass and guitar, so I could be either Stinson.' She knew then and there this was her future bandmate. Soon after, they found Matt the drummer with an ad that said 'Looking for a drummer who likes long walks on the beach, and puppies.' Here's some of what others have said: 'A talented 3-piece combining quirky energetic melodies with male/femal vocal dynamics- The Pixies reincarnated, perhaps? Fight Dirty manages to bring in a few new elements, notably the restraint oft missed from Black Francis's guitar arrangements, displayed here textbook style in the infectious opening song 'My Girlfriend'. (From Performermag.com, Jan 2004) 'Quirky and silly pop/indie...fun...' (From Punk Planet Jan 2004) '...el trío punk Fight Dirty liderado por la bajista y cantante Vanessa Godson, con carisma y actitud' (From the USA's largest circulation Spanish newspaper La Opinión) Songs 'My Girlfriend' and 'Hey Ma' have been getting airplay on LA's KXLU and Indie 103.1.
