Description

Stargazer on CD

If you were trapped on a 12-hour road trip with an indie college geek, your dental hygienist, TV's Patton Oswald, and your mother, Featherstone is the only band you would need to listen to. Their sound, built on a foundation of classic rock and pop and layered with walls of noisy feedback, is as unique as it is familiar. Longtime songwriting partners and studio tinkerers Tim Murphy and Nick Angelo have been laboring for nearly two years creating their debut album, Stargazer. Recorded and produced entirely in their home studio, the album mixes spacey dirt-pop with darker, more aggressive sounds. Murphy and Angelo met as high schoolers in the suburban mediocrity of Beaverton, Oregon and began writing together at age 16. Over the course of 3 groups and countless 'Battle of the Bands' competitions, the two realized that waiting to 'get signed' would inevitably lead to homelessness. Opting to take matters into their own hands, they wrote and recorded an album together over the latter half of 2003 with no bandmates or record label support. Calling themselves Featherstone, the two released their album Stargazer on Ellemenopy Records, their own independent label. Featherstone is currently supporting the release of Stargazer, performaing slightly altered versions (i.e. no bass or drums) of their songs as an acoustic/electric duo.
