Live! on CD

Regina Litvinova - Piano Markus Schieferdecker -Bass Christian Scheuber - Drums, Taiko, Percussion Passion, power and emotion are probably the most appropriate words to describe the music of the Regina Litvinova Extreme Trio. The young Russian piano player and her two German companions, Markus Schieferdecker on bass and Christian Scheuber on drums developed their very own sound, playing traditional modern Jazz. Their groove, their swing and their inspired improvisations are typical for the rising German Band. Time stretching and rhythmic illusions are employed in a very natural and honest way, just one example for the musician's technical skills. After the first Trio Ablum in 2003 the band was accompanied by Alex Sipiagin (tp), Reiner Witzel (sax) and Claus Kiesselbach (vibes) for their second Album "Grizzlies", on Jazz´n Arts Records. In June 2007 Regina Litvinova released her third album with her Trio, this time a live recording. Biographies Regina Litvinova The young Russian pianist RL started playing piano at an early age. In Moscow she studied first with Eduard Syomin and was introduced to jazz by Michaes Okum. In 2001 Regina transferred to the "Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst" in Mannheim where she studied with Professor Jörg Reiter. In Mannheim she once again met the drummer Christian Scheuber, whom she had seen in Moscow in 1997. Regina and Christian worked together on several projects. Finally Christian, along with bassist Martin Simon (later Markus Schieferdecker) became the permanent rhythm section for the Regina Litvinova "Extreme Trio". Shortly after winning the Soloist Prize at the "Young Jazz Award" in Tübingen in 2002, Regina recorded her debut CD, "German ......" (Rodenstein Records). She performed concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburgand France. Regina also studied with several giants in the jazz piano world: Richie Beirach and Mark Soskin, refining her energetic style and inspiring her to new levels of improvisation. Regina displayed her incredible talent as a composer and arranger on her second CD, "Grizzlies" (Jazz´n....). For this CD she assembled a stellar cast of players, including Claus Kiesselbach, Rainer Witzel and Alex Sipiagin. Whoever has the pleasure of hearing Regina quickly feels the passion and joy that this young musicians so ably conveys. Her nuances, emotions, and groove combine to form a complete portrait of this unique individual. A brilliant technique, subtle shifts in time and rhythmic illusions are her trademarks. She has also played concerts and sessions with Evelyn Blakey, Mike Ellis, Igor Butman, Wynton Marsalis and Oleg Kirejev. In 2006 Regina received her diploma "Jazz Piano Studies" from the "Musikhochschule" Mannheim with the best grade possible. Regina furthered her education with Richie Beirach at the HMT in Leipzig. With her third CD Extreme Trio "Live", Regina presents jazz standards and reveals a new level of maturity. Christian Scheuber is a desired live and studio drummer in Germany. He studied Jazzdrums and composition with Billy Brooks at the Swiss Jazz School in Berne. Scheuber played many concerts all over Europe, the US and the former Soviet Union. He collaborated with musicians like Tim Hagans, Richie Cole, Igor Butman, Ron Mc Clure and Reiner Witzel. In 1999 his band Interjazz won the "Jazz Ear Award" for their CD "Live in Norway" featuring Arkady Shilkloper. In 2000 Scheuber produced his first own CD with Paul Bollenback, Andrej Kondakov and James Genus. He is a member of the Regina Litvinova Exreme Trio since 2003. Markus Schieferdecker is definitely one of the top bass players in Germany. Born in Nürnberg he moved to Cologne where he now plays with the Cologne Jazz Orchestra. He won many national and international competitions, no wonder as he played and plays with people like Albert Mangelsdorf, Clark Terry, Lee Konitz, Jerry Bergonzi, Klaus Doldinger, Bob Malach, The Cologne Jazz Orchestra und The German All Stars.
