Brand New Tattoo on CD

After nearly two years in the making, Exit Left's debut album 'Brand New Tattoo' is finally finished and available for purchase. Frontman Troy Cono started the project solo in November of 2000. After calling the band together the following February, he and his bass player J.T. Langley spent the next fourteen months off and on in the studio finishing this rock masterpiece. In April of 2002, drummer Billy Nielsen joined them to put his rhythmical touches to the album. Finally, after hooking up with lead guitar player David Klanac a few months later, the album was released on July 9, 2002. 'Brand New Tattoo' is a unique blend of modern rock inspired by the musical genius of bands such as Our Lady Peace, Incubus, Stone Temple Pilots, and Oasis. At times, powerful melodies mixed with falsetto emotions reminiscent of Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace) can be heard in songs like 'Wonder Why' and 'Counting Heads' while being accompanied by drum work influenced by the likes of Chad Sexton (311) and driving guitar riffs a la Dean De Leo (Stone Temple Pilots). On the other hand, 'Brand New Tattoo' cools down from it's adrenaline rush with songs like 'Escape' and 'These Days,' both composed of pure-sounding natural chords that have become the trademark of modern rock songwriters Liam and Noel Gallagher (Oasis). Many fans have even gone so far as to say that the album can be categorized as more than just a simple rock album, as in many songs, like 'Night Rain' and 'Vampyre Nation,' it breaks the mold of what most modern day rock groups tend to put out and shows that the band isn't afraid to exploit it's own creative license in achieving originality.
