Life on the Fringe on CD

"Ummmm . . . good?" goes the typical response when someone is asked to describe what kind of music Evan plays. Evan has created his own style that does not fit into any genre. Heavy jazz, rock, blues, and folk influences mixed with his own independent style of writing and playing form the musical experience of Evan Webb. Evan is versatile; whether he is playing solo for intimate coffee shop audiences or rocking out with a band, listeners come away with the same response: "That was fun!" Growing up in a house filled with music, Evan quickly took to playing and singing, even at a very young age. Always eager to entertain at family gatherings, as a boy, Evan would strum a tiny toy guitar and sing songs such as 'Home on the Range' for his relatives. As he got older, and played more, Evan became interested in writing his own songs. As early as 8 years old, Evan had begun writing songs and, using a Dictaphone, recorded his first songs by age 9. In middle school, Evan joined his church's praise band and played with them for five years. During that time, he also formed a short lived cover rock/blues band called Cheap Thrill. Growing up near Austin has had a profound influence on the music that Evan plays. While in high school, he frequented the few music venues that minors could get in to and began emulating those artists he enjoyed the most. Life on the Fringe, Evan's debut album, is truly a picture into the mind of the artist. Every song is different, but every song is the same. There is a free flow of authenticity and the listener comes away with the sense of being in the middle of something much bigger than lyrics and tunes. Life on the Fringe was recorded over the period of one week in a small studio south of Austin. "The title, Life on the Fringe, comes from where all of these songs were written, standing on the outside looking in. It's like regaining the sight of the forest, despite the trees.' Not only did Evan write all of the lyrics and music to Life on the Fringe he produced it as well, relishing in the opportunity to flex his creative muscles in the studio. Now Evan is focusing his attention once again on live performances, writing more material for future projects, and selling his CD.
