Bright Day for a Frog's Rebellion
- Artist: Evan Hammer
- Format: CD
- Release Date:1/8/2008
On stage, Evan Hammer is a barefoot dancing, riotous bass player, but he crafts his tunes while isolated in his piano room during marathon songwriting sessions. His music integrates diverse modern rock songs that vacillate between Killers fever and Elliott Smith resignation, with a strong connection to expressive Bowie-esque melodies and driving Kings of Leon motion. In Bright Day for a Frog's Rebellion (2008), Evan Hammer's debut album, he worked with a variety of singers, musicians, and engineers to create the record including the Low Anthem, Guy Benny (Locksley), Jack Gauthier (Dispatch, John Hammond), and John Mailloux (Dispatch, Leah Stargazing). This Brooklyn based musician has spent the last few months traveling up and down the East Coast with his band, Bury Me A Lion, playing shows from Atlanta to Boston, including the Khyber (Philly), the Bitter End (NYC), and the Middle East (Boston). Some notable recent appearances were playing for the Nuthing Summer Collaborative Music Festival in Charlotte, opening for Fun at Northeastern University, and participating in VH1's Break N Through at NYC's Highline Ballroom. ------ The Musicians: Ariel Levine (of Kindergarten) sings and plays guitar on tracks one, two, and six. Ben Miller (of The Low Anthem) sings and plays guitar on tracks four, five, and nine. Ross Beshear sings on tracks three, seven, and eight. Joe Barney sings on track ten. Bill Mead plays drums on tracks one, two, three, six, seven, eight, and ten. Udi Levy plays guitar on tracks three, seven, eight, and ten. Paul Mason plays drums on tracks five and nine. Jeff Prystowky (of The Low Anthem) plays upright bass on track four. Evan Hammer plays bass guitar on all tracks except for track four. Jack Gauthier mixed the album and John Mailloux mastered it. These songs were written by a younger man. ---------------------------------------- i cannot create a rampage, my memories aside, but if everyone would stop feigning, we'd expose deranged behavior, tripping men with their shadow demons begging Infidium for her good graces. Tell the liars about the Frog rebellion, eat the furniture until it's synergized into your soul, find a single drop of rain in your hair and hold it out at arms length while you gaze in 3d, let the time drip over your fingernails and dig in hard against the sun, take all the flowers you've been collecting since you were a little kid and throw them into the flame.
