Hearing Things on CD

Hailing from Fairbanks, Alaska, Ethos has emerged with a dynamic CD blending Americana, Jazz, Blues and Rock. A distinguishing character sums up Ethos quite correctly. Incredible live performances, at some of the best clubs in the region, have allowed Ethos to build a very loyal following and develop into a force to be reckoned with. It's a fact that Ethos makes people move, groove, look and listen! All six members bring a specific set of goods to the project including solid writing, excellent musicianship, long lasting friendships and respect for each other. And that quite simply is Ethos. The band performs original rock with influences from all areas of music. Paul Krejci is a world travelling concert pianist. Shannon Scott Spring is a blues guitar player from Oklahoma. Rebecca Stephens is a classically trained vocalist from Valdez, Alaska. Robin Zimmerman was formerly a guitarist and songwriter in a local punk band. Neil Kinnebrew is a world beat drummer from Central America. And Steve Lacatena is a classically trained saxophone player from New Jersey. The influences are audible in the music itself: the classical orchestration of 'Empty Dreams' and 'The Truth", the blues of 'Liquid Blues', the funk in 'Robin's Funk', the reggae in 'So Dark', the musicianship of 'In the Night', and the avant-garde of 'Loopit'. The album represents an eclectic array of tunes from this diverse gathering of musicians. All of the band members are currently in Fairbanks, but the band plans to tour the Lower 48 in the summer of 2003.
