Open Aeon on CD

The debut release from this diverse new Dark-Electro act from Sydney, Australia has progressed to the point of completion over the past three years and showcases a strong mix of lavishly textured and multi-layered electronic soundscapes with industrial beats and EBM undertones. During early 2006, Melbourne based solo artist Charles Fenech offered his support in mixing Empty's demo tracks to absolute perfection. The EP demonstrates a deeper and much more detailed variety of sound, including remixes from EBM driven ANGELTHEORY and IDM underground producer iammynewt. This diverse blend of melodic, Dark-Electro is only the beginning of much more to come from this Sydney based duo. All tracks written and recorded by Aaron Potter and Daniel Brunet. Mixing on all tracks by Charles Fenech, except 'Ghost Beside You (iammynewt Remix)' by Chris Cozort. Mastered by Chris Cozort at TROZOC (NC, USA). ---------- 'A breath of badly needed fresh air.' - Arable Farmland (Chicago IL, USA) 'Empty doesn't want to be the most aggressive madman in the scene, they put the accent on the soul. The opening track 'Ghost Beside You' is an ars poetica within a clear-cut radioactive sound... If I had to pick one favourite off the album, it would be 'Blue' with it's emotional retro-electronics, and there's a badass remix of it too!' - LD50.hu (Budapest, Hungary) 'it's refreshing to hear a band like Australia's Empty take a slower, creepier approach [to the genre] that recalls Skinny Puppy's more atmospheric work. 'Ghost Beside You' starts things off with mid-tempo beats, lush minor-key synths, and processed vocal effects that call to mind depressed robots. It sets the stage for many of the songs to come, although there are of course variations [that] are more demonic than cybernetic, 'Blue' plays wispier melodic vocals against a crunchy industrial drum loop... Finishing things off is the haunting 'Alone,' which begins as just whispers and bits of echoing piano before adding a slow, oppressive breakbeat to the mix. ... For a first EP, this is a promising effort steeped in the tradition of dark, somber electro.' - ReGen Magazine (San Francisco CA, USA)
