Reality of Monday Morning on CD

Eke continues to reinvent itself. Adding Scott Allen on lead guitar in August of 2003, Eke's music took on new energy. With Scott's ability to bounce between powerful slide runs, emotional fills, and expressive leads, the music was finally able to match the lyrics giving the stories multiple traces. In late July 2004, Brian Sigmund, agreed to sit behind the kit, as opposed to his previous roll of percussionist. Brian's drumming style has a tendency to open new rhythmic avenues, which helps to perpetuate the experiment. With Mat Haynes, the newest member of the family, on bass Eke has once again brought a fresh fever to their live performances. His style is crisp and bouncy allowing the tunes to move more and the audience to groove more. At the helm, S. Eric Ketzer continues to create and perfect the balance of accessibility and poetics, adding new songs which lead, not force, Eke in new directions. Tunes like 'Been Down' offer dense stories on top of an tight rhythm with earty guitars, where as 'Monday Morning' twangs with alt-country sensibility and 'Sex with Saturn' tells the wah ladened tale of interplanetary romance and it's demise. Eke is continually growing their original set list. Currently, they have a solid 4 hours of energetic grooves. Since forming in January of 2002, Eke has garnered much media exposure. They are listed as a River Home Grown Artist and have had their tracks spun on 101.1 the River. They have also been played on KDHX (88.1), and 93x. They have performed on Show Me St. Louis (KSDK) five times; and have made appearances on O'Fallon's, Acoustic Bean (Channel 21), and many episodes of Mid Coast Mania, which is aired on Fox Channel 2. Eke's biggest accomplishment, other than developing a loving fan base, was making it to the FINAL FIVE in the Daily Buzz's (WB) 'Best Bands you are not Listening To' Contest, a national contest looking for the best unsigned bands in America. Eke has proven that the experiment is ever evolving and the acid-folk-funk-n-roll rolls!
