Ian McBe-An on CD

Ed Doran has lived in San Antonio, Texas all of his life. He began taking piano lessons at age seven. He developed a feel for harmony early on, singing with his mother. He sang in his elementary school choir and played trombone in band through high school. He also sang in his high school choir. Ed received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio. He was a founding member and keyboardist in 'The Klocks,' a Top 40 dance band. He played on and off for more than fifteen years, traveling all over Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. His church community has always been a big part of his life. He has played piano at St. Luke's Catholic Church in San Antonio for over 30 years. After completeing his degree, Ed took his first job as an elementary music teacher at Colonial Hills Elementary School in the North East Independent School District in San Antonio. After teaching there for 16 years, Ed made his first move to Windcrest Elementary where his wife Margie is a Speech and Language Pathologist. Drawing on his experience with keyboards, computers and the MIDI language, Ed began composing musicals for children during his first year as a teacher. He composed six musicals, including a trilogy that spanned the grade levels from Kinder to 5th grade. He also composed many other songs for use in the classroom as well as for special events at the school. Ed is credited with two songs on his bands album, 'The Klocks Greatest Hits.' His interest in Texas History has led him to begin work on a Broadway style musical dealing with pre-1836 Alamo and San Antonio history.
