Misfit on CD

E-Shy Born & raised in Harlem to an Irish Father and Jewish mother, Jesse Barton knows conflict all to well. Words became the vehicle of expression that led to an accomplished career as a spoken word poet by the age of 16. Finding himself a home at the highly acclaimed Nuyorican Poets Café, E-Shy decided to expand his verbal delivery by competing in battles and rap competitions. His dedication to his craft led to victory at the lyricist's labs, braggin rites, and the game battle in NYC. Blending beats together with words was a natural progression for E-Shy, who is a longtime hip-hop devotee. His first album, A.D.D., was critically acclaimed while his video "Blacks and Jews" won best video at the 2006 Toronto International film festival. The video also featured Daddy-O of Stets a Sonic. He has connected with several of the hottest underground producers through grindstone networking and collective studio time. E-Shy teamed up with D.Dot (whose previous credits include Biggie Smalls and Lil Kim) to produce "Blacks and Jews," and Needlz (a G-Unit producer) produced "Koshanostra." He's been featured alongside Matisyahu on Ta- Shma's album Come and Listen. Live performances include Cheetah Club, The Leopard Lounge, S.O.B.\'s, Emerson College, Pyramid Lounge, The City, Remote Lounge, the Bowery Poetry Bar, the Nuyorican Cafe, Lion\'s Den, and the Tunnel. In addition, E-Shy was a featured showcase act at both the Digital Music conference in New York and Miami, and has also traveled to Germany for shows in Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt. E-Shy's latest project, the "Why So Serious" mixtape, hosted by DJ Kayslay, dropped on Labor Day. The mixtape contained his first single, Paper Bag. His first album, Misfit, will be released this fall.
