It's fast, it's rude, it's non-political, it's funny and it's definitely rock 'n' roll. Not much else you can say about Dr. Dick. Well your standard bio remarks of course: 4 man strong, from the east part of Holland, fast, gripping, burning rubber, flaming strings with a smile, a chuckle and a choke and a big, big attitude. Dr. Dick has sprouted two CD's up till now, 'Couldn't care less' and 'Sheriff, I do not know of what you speak' (the latter had some critical acclaim in the low countries I'd like to add). But of course you just have to dig in yourself and an opinion will form, it always does, after all 40% of the people walking this earth are capable of having an opinion of some sort, not that I care. Is there a reason for all of this, what are these four hoodlums trying to tell the world? Well eh, I don't know really. I do know there are some golden rules in playing music Dr. Dick style. I'll give a short list supported by some quotations from the rich and lively Dr. Dick lyrics: 1) Compare yourself to known icons: 'Elvis left the building and me I just got in', not that you could compare the good Doctor to Elvis, or it would be an Elvis dancing naked on top of an ant hill covered in peanut butter with a 12 pound tuna in his left hand and a piece of cheddar in his right. 2) Don't take yourself too seriously: 'Gather some dust and I lick my knife, got a sweet thing going with the butchers wife, it's me myself the devil and a pack of dogs, I don't know what that means but it f***in' rocks'. Blessed are the simplest of mind for they will inherit the kingdom of rock 'n' roll. If you're intelligent, never let anyone know you are, if you're stupid... well, lucky you. Just remember to always speak without saying anything for: 'I'm a leper of the tongue, the words I speak come out all wrong'. 3) Sound tough, act tough, be a man: 'Cut me all you want bitch, I ain't got time to bleed', because it all has to be tightly embedded in the rock 'n' roll tradition of boys don't shed tears they provoke them: (or is it all due to watching to many B-movies). 4) Sex, sexier, sexiest: 'Oh pretty baby, you never saw me coming, I'm a swamp devil hard and mean. My daddy was a goat, you can tell that by my legs and the tail hanging in between'. Refering to the devil is never wrong, in combination with sex it's even better. 5) Nothing is sacred: 'Some girls like it slowly, some girls up their ass, some girls they are holy, I f*** 'm during mass'. I think that speaks for itself, it's always a good thing to prance about with your catholic schoolgirl complex. Just be gentle, and remember, it takes all sorts even fish lovers: 'I'm spitting out diesel and I'm coughing lead, got Flipper tight down in my waterbed', now that is going to be a nice party, isn't it? Anyway, enough reason to listen to the hard pounding rock 'n' roll gems these boys have thus far put out, and if you like it sweaty beer-stained a little sleazy but still sophisticated, you should see them play live. It ain't about kicking ass, it's about chewing it of completely (but always nicely dressed, in a black suit and a grey tie).
