Choppy riffs, blistering solos, and ear-punching vocals define The Downcide, an up and coming heavy metal band from Columbia, SC. In February, 2006, brewing interest led to an unprecedented debut performance, as The Downcide took the stage for the first time ever in front of a near capacity crowd at West Columbia's New Brookland Tavern-on a Wednesday night, nonetheless. Local heroes and platinum selling artists, Crossfade also came out to enjoy the show. The band was an instant headlining act in Columbia. Drawing unprecedente interest from local music fans, the band took a six month journey from being a finalist in the local, radio station-hosted, battle of the bands, to earning the opening slot at Fallout 2006, where they took the stage in front of thousands with national recording artists Crossfade, Nonpoint, and Decyfer Down. In a year's time, The Downcide had performed to every corner of South Carolina, and had been featured on some of the state's best known stages including Columbia's Headliners, Spartanburg's Ground Zero, and Charleston's Music Farm. The Downcide has had multiple on-air interviews and two songs in syndication on Columbia's Rock 93.5. They have also been heard on Charleston's 98X, and the University of South Carolina's 90.5, another station hosting an on-air interview. In fact, six of the ten songs from The Downcide's self-released, debut album have surfaced on the airways throughout the state of South Carolina. In addition to radio play, The Downcide has been featured in Scene-azine Magazine, The Daily Gamecock, The Free Times, and The State Newspaper. Now one of South Carolina's premier local acts, and with the release of their much anticipated, self-titled, debut album, The Downcide has embarked on a mission to take their signature brand of metal all over the southeast with the rest of the country in their sites. Uncompromising and unstoppable, The Downcide will surely be a household name when all is said and done.
