Doom Buggies on CD

"Fun, catchy power pop with a punk edge is the order of the day from this four piece who, in the coolest of ways list The Monkees, The Cavedogs and 80's Boston garage rock as their major influences." -- David Bash, International Pop Overthrow The Doom Buggies have been kicking around Boston since 1995 performing our hybrid brand of garage rock. Some have described it as 'the Monkees meet the Who.' Others have have called it 'Arena Garage Rock' and 'Pop Metal.' A few have even described it as 'Absolute Rubbish.' Call it what you will... We typically careen from bubblegum pop and dark psychedelia to Donny Iris covers and cheesy metal riffs. Some people say we should focus more, but what fun would that be? The Doom Buggies have performed countless shows over the years and were recently invited to play the International Pop Overthrow Festival when it rolled through Boston. We are excited about the release of our first full-length CD and have recently added a second guitarist to create the new and exciting 'Wall of Buggies' sound. Band Members include Bruce Allen (x-Pop Gun) on guitar and vocals, Alex Leacock (Strangemen, Kenne Highland Clan) on drums and vocals, Carl Biancucci (Classic Ruins, Vatican Sex Kittens, Johnny and the Jumper Cables, Varmints) on bass and Chuck "Roast" Freeman (Moving Targets) on second guitar and vocals. "The Doom Buggies have good pop hooks, a thunderous rhythm section, and slashing guitars. They're reminiscent of early Soul Asylum or Replacements, but with a '90s edge. I was thoroughly drawn into the band's refreshingly challenging performance. If the world were truly musical, we'd all be singing Doom Buggies songs and Hootie & the bored fish would never have been allowed even to look at an instrument. Take a ride with the Doom Buggies and see for yourself." -- Chris Kennedy, WFNX AIR Personality "Next up is The Doom Buggies whose sound is anything but---doom. Their infectious brand of punky pop tunes have heads bobbing and bodies moving and grooving. Bruce confesses they haven't played for a long time and apologizes for sounding so sloppy, but I think they sound amazing and judging from the reaction of the crowd, I'm not alone. " -- Lianna Ness, The Noise.
