Description

Kailua on CD

This is a review written by 'Kamasami Kong', a very popular DJ reknown in Hawaii and Japan: Don Stewart Soon is a musician/composer who spent years working on his craft, and for this project, has personally selected a mix of his favorite musicians and singers. Push the "PLAY" button and you'll hear a wide variety of musical genres from the soft ballad Why Must It End to his self-proclaimed "hard driving fusion sound" in the song Bad Boys. The title cut, Kailua, is an acoustic guitar reggae piece that Stew says is "reminiscent of Acoustic Alchemy, with a jazz twist." Providing vocals are singers Carol Gaylor, who sings what Stew says is "a sexy rendition" of Closing Time, and Deb Z who contributes "the haunting voice" to the song Muse. Other noteworthy performances come from Arianna Fanning (Drums), Marcus Huber (Bass), Diane Bridge (Vocals), John Kocur (Alto Sax), Kevin Amin (Percussion) and Chris Seipp (Electric Bass). In a Facebook message, Stew told us this project was 'recorded under the watchful eye (and ears) of two time Grammy winning engineer Jim Robeson.' If you're searching for music that takes a detour from the beaten path, you might enjoy the stylings and very personal messages to be heard within these songs by Don Stewart Soon.
