Neptunes Treasure on CD

Every summer for the past 17 years Valli and I have cruised the Caribbean in our homemade Wharram Catamarran. These 12 songs are sketches in calypso, salsa, reggae and Afro rhythms dedicated to people & places we've known. From our mooring in Fajardo, PR we beat into the trade winds, stopping overnight in Culebrita, St.Thomas, St. John and Jost van Dyke and on to Trellis bay in Tortola. Here we hang out for a few days and socialize at De Loose Mangoose and stock up in Roadtown. Then it's a wonderful NNE reach with a 15-20 knot wind and 3-5 foot swells to Anegada. Anegada is due north of Virgin Gorda, east of Jost van Dyke, south of Bermuda and west of Africa. You don't see land until almost there and then palm trees suddenly start to rise from the sea. Anegada is surrounded by the world's third largest barrier reef. Frequently ships sailing in from the East with the trade winds behind them didn't spot land until too late and there are over 300 known shipwrecks in the reefs. We anchor north of Pomato Point behind the reef in complete solitude and spend our days reading, meditating and snorkling for our dinner entre. Occasionally we venture ashore for cold beer, dinner and gossip at our favorite venue, Neptune's Treasure, owned by the Soares family. We stay in Anegada most of the summer, until a hurricane warning chases us home and we arrive in Puerto Rico tan and rested and a full of seafood and ready for another season of booking gigs for the convention business. Don Baaska.
