Tough Week for the Bride! on CD

Enhanced CD 21 audio tracks + a printable PDF booklet (27 pages) for your computer (PC & Mac) with French lyrics, English translations, notes, and web links. For this project, which originally came out of workshops conducted for French teachers in the US, the artists selected and arranged to suit their own style and instruments 19 of their favorite songs from their repertoire, some of which they have been singing since the early days of the French folk revival in the late 1960's and early 70's. Also included are 3 dance tunes (bourrées) from Central France on hurdy-gurdy and accordion. Although it's focus is clearly on traditional French folk songs and music, this album also reflects the global reality of contemporary folk music. The musicians, who have been residing for many years in Georgia (USA), but also lived in France, their country of origin, England, Utah, and California, are familiar with a number of "folk styles" and don't hesitate to make the songs their own, adding mandolin to a Breton song, throwing in American old-time style fiddle, and even mixing in a couple of American fiddle tunes on guitar as well as the Irish tune "Off She Goes," which seems to fall naturally at the conclusion of 'Le petit mari.' All songs and tunes are traditional, except for Braden's Reel (© Braden Frieder) Dominique Carton: vocals, guitar, accordion, bass (all bass tracks except 'Tu peux cogner') Jean-Paul Carton: vocals, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, hurdy-gurdy Sylvain Carton (Mitch Marcus Quintet): bass ('Tu peux cogner') This album also features the talent of sound engineer Stephen Barncard, whose impressive discography includes work on albums by folks such as the Grateful Dead and Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and who was kind enough to share his expertise and master the CD, thus giving it a professional final touch that only he could provide. Recording: Dominique and Jean-Paul Carton Mixing: Jean-Paul and Sylvain Carton, with advice from Stephen Barncard Mastering: Stephen Barncard, House of Cubes Productions, San Francisco, CA Produced by Dominique and Jean-Paul Carton Trad' Magazine Review: 'Voilà un couple de Français partis vivre aux États-Unis « juste avant la première édition de St-Chartier ».
