Deosil returns with another ambient music project. His new album entitled 'Automatic Music' is based on the concept of automatic writing which means to write or create based on divine intervention - channeling, if you will. The songs contained on this album explore the depths of sonic ambience he is willing to take the listener through. Each track tells it's own story and is connected through one another. The first track begins with an incredible recording of waves crashing in the North Sea combined with ambient/spatial electronic sounds. From then on Dylan continues to explore the sonic landscape and gives the listener a chance to breathe (or meditate) after each song. Just like his first album 'Beyond This Plane Of Existence', released on his own in August of 2005, he draws much of his inspiration from nature and uses his recording and editing tools to manipulate the original sound into a something deeper and more spatial. Rustic, natural sounds are combined with electronic ambient noises, synths, piano, Spanish style guitars, and very ethereal melodies. All these tracks seem to create endless possibilities of sound. For Dylan, 'Automatic Music' is quite a step up from his first project - a project that took more than a year to create. The original concept of 'Beyond' was just a 20 minute meditational piece written for a friend that grew into 8 more tracks (and an additional 55 minutes) and proved that he could write other styles such as trance dance, ambient, and down-tempo. 'Automatic Music' continues where 'Beyond' left off but musical growth can come from personal growth as well. Learning more about Chakra energy, spiritual healing through sound, and meditational practices, Dylan has applied those things to the music by channeling each song that tunes to a specific tone. Using his own home studio and an incredible array of instruments and computer aided synth sounds, Dylan combines the electronic and acoustic seamlessly by using digital editing with analog recording techniques. It's not a new technique, but Dylan adds his own flair to this style of music. Having spent 8 1/2 years in music school and obtaining a Masters degree in 2001 in Piano Performance, Dylan understands how to arrange songs and treat them as if they were part of a classical symphony. Instead of a live orchestra, he uses sampled instruments and filters, knobs, switches and buttons to create an other worldly sound to his music. Released without major label support, Dylan was able to pitch and promote his first album, conveniently, at the same store where he sells the CD. 'Beyond' is currently the #1 selling CD at The Heritage Bookstore on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, Virginia despite such 'competition' as the nationally recognized New Age healing album 'Chakra Suite' by sound pioneer Steven Halpern and major label heavy hitters like Enya and Jim Brickman. Although, having just signed with ASCAP, the American Society Of Composers and Publishers, he has yet to get any major recognition. He is hopeful that someday an important musical figure (or rep) will hear his music. His success so far has been based on the fact that he talks and discusses the album with just about everyone who is interested in it. His own private recording 'label' Other Realm Music specializes in sound healing, audio manipulation, chakra balancing, and audio mastering. His tracks have been featured on Sirius Satellite radio and has been heard as far away as Europe, thanks mainly to the worldwide accessibility of mp3 downloads. The internet has truly helped him gain recognition by allowing his music to be hosted on such sites as Download.com, Myspace, and Soundclick.com. As of recently he has received more than 40,000 plays and downloads since September 2005 plus several offers to be hosted on free new age streaming radio stations. The digital age has provided an incredible medium for Dylan to work with but he will never forget the training and the effort he went through years ago to learn the ways of the musical masters. Now, just like an Olympic athlete who runs with the Ceremonial torch, Dylan moves along with the times and continues to be a pioneer in his own musical quest. The door is still open......it's time you walk through it and explore what lies on the other side.
