On the Rocks on CD

When you first hear the sound and song of Deb Silva, you find yourself being taken to a place of intimacy and honesty. A sultry, soothing voice, connecting with melody and a lyrical content of depth and truth, introduce the listener to more than just an artist with a passion for music. Her journey of life's encounters has become the inspiration for this welcome addition to the genre of singer/songwriter albums that have graced the platform of the recording industry. Born and raised in Modesto, California, Deb discovered early in life her God given talent and love for music. Singing and playing piano for Church choirs, weddings, parties and for anyone who would listen, eventually led to her recording a Gospel record in the mid 1980's. She continued on the professional level by working as a studio vocalist singing for jingles and other sessions. In 1995, Deb moved to Nashville to further pursue her career and became part of the singing trio, Savanna. During this time, her entrance as a songwriter was birthed as she learned to play the guitar by ear, opening a whole new door for creative expression. She began to showcase her newly discovered ability by becoming a regular performer at the famous Bluebird Café, which was the home for many tremendous talents in the Nashville area. In 2002, Deb moved back to California where she began to write the material, both music and lyrics, for her latest release. Participating in Jazz Festivals there, her appreciation for the Jazz scene was brought to life. She was introduced to a record producer (Marty Williams) in San Francisco and the rest is history. This album, "On The Rocks", expresses most dearly the thoughts and struggles of her life. It won't take long after listening to this new project to hear Deb's vulnerability, as well as her desire to bring hope to the lives of those who can relate to the subject matter. "On The Rocks" is a worthy addition to every album collection, and certainly reveals that it won't be the last word from Deb Silva.
