De DeMarco: Profile De (Deidre) DeMarco was first introduced to Yoga by her mother, who had become a teacher in the early 1970s and has practised the form ever since. She graduated from the Sarasvati International School of Yoga officially in 2003 the same year she graduated with a BA Hon. Degree from Sydney University majoring in Performance Studies and Social Anthropology which greatly enhanced her performance and communication skills. De has been actively developing a range of Hatha Yoga Classes in the Hawkesbury region of New South Wales since June 2003 and currently holds the position of Secretary of the Yoga Masters Association of Australia. De's teaching style is gentle, respectful and nurturing. She currently teaches general, meditation/relaxation classes, corporate classes for high stress/high risk environments, private classes in her own studio for those who require one on one attention or smaller groups preferring privacy. One of her passions since moving into the area has been to provide Yoga classes for pregnancy having utilised these specific techniques herself now her students are reaping the benefits. De's students have all experienced positive, active, healthy, pregnancies, with reduced labour times, less medical intervention, and faster recovery periods for both mother and baby. De's great strength is her ability to assess and address the individual issues of her class participants, designing unique sessions inspired by needs and issues as they arise. A basic class always includes breathing exercises (Pranayama), warming up each region of the body, a series of specific poses (Asana) which deeply strengthen tone and release each region of the body, and relaxation (Yoga Nidra) to conclude. The result is a wonderfully relaxed, strong yet supple, happy and well person.
