Path of Glory on CD

Caught somewhere between epic 80's metal and modern progressive rock lies Dartanian. We try to combine catchy maiden-esque guitars, victorious sing-along anthems, odd-metered but accessible riffs and straight up breakdowns. It all started in 2002 when the song River was conceived by Sean, Jesse and our friend Scott on the back porch of our old house in Boulder. At that point a band was put together with the sole objective of having fun. We tend to practice on an infrequent basis and play shows even less often. We've done everything on our own terms, from booking tours to releasing records. What we always try to achieve with everything we do though is to rock as hard as humanly possible, wear ridiculous costumes, play covers of our favorite 80's songs, and from time to time bring along our pirate-robot mascot, Capt' Metal. Review from the Onion: 'When it comes to retro metal acts like DragonForce and the Darknesss, there's a thin line between earnest and ironic. Dartanian on the other hand, is much easier to peg: The Boulder outfit plays epic, melodic and unabashedly wise-ass metal that filters Iron Maiden through a laugh track. The band is celebrating the release of a new disc dubbed Path of Glory, which features the hilarious 'Rock for Jesus' and lines like 'What they didn't know / is that Jesus loved to shred / and he didn't like the Grateful Dead.' But it isn't all a joke: Like the savior Himself, the men of Dartanian know how to shred, and bow down at the shrine of cheese-rock a little more devoutly than they let on. Also attending will be the group's robotic mascot, Capt. Metal, not to mention lots of ripped leopard-print leotards.'
