On the Edge
- Artist: Darren Thornberry
- Format: CD
- Release Date:8/7/2007
A thoughtful folk/roots rock record that is both musically and lyrically bittersweet. Darren Thornberry's freshman release "On The Edge" is a bittersweet mix of folk/roots rock. His musical sound channels the organic instrumentation of such folk/rock dignitaries as The Indigo Girls and The Sundays while his sweet, high tenor voice will remind the listener of the vocal stylings of R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. His lyrical observations are poetically introspective in their unique portrayal of the poignant, sacred and, at times, comedic aspects of relationships, marriage, parenthood, God and life. -- Corey Jackson The Canadian-born songwriter is known for lush, acoustic melodies, a haunting, soulful voice and painfully honest lyrics. His songs might just remind you of scenes from your own life. "I tend to observe the struggles that people have - that I have - in relationships and then write honestly about these things. Troubles with a partner, difficult questions about faith and love ... these are common themes for me."
