MUSIC EXPRESSES... what the mind thinks the heart feels but the mouth rarely ever speaks Roberta Taggart While like most children raised in my era I attended church and sang on the choir but my love and appreciation for music did not arrive from church. It was developed at the early age of five when I lived in the Richard Allen Projects of North Philly. My idols had long ago been established as the sweet faceless voices of the project winos that got together harmonizing and singing beneath my open bedroom window. It was the silky sweetness of their street harmony that floated flawlessly upon the warm summer breezes into my room into the wee hours of the nights that mesmarized my young impressionable mind and often lala-byed me into a peaceful sleep. It was the impact of their beautifully blended voices that made me want to some day sing exactly like them. And while I truly enjoyed every note that they ever sung it was always the tenor voice that demanded my undivided attention and stirred the very passion of my soul. At the age of seven my mother bought my first record player and it was on that record player that I listened to the sweet tenor voices of Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations, Smokey Robinson of the Miracles, William Hart of the Delfonics, and Russell Thompkins Jr. of the stylistics over and over for hours studying and trying to perfect their awesome and unique styles. As I grew older my passion for music grew wider, deeper, and eventually enticed me into seeking out many local Accapella groups. It was an experience that I have and will always treasure because it broaden my horizon and provided me with the wonderful chance of traveling and performing with some of the most talented Accapella groups in Philly such as Mixed Emotions, New Emage, Ecstasies, and Destinations. It was after many years of practicing, traveling, performing with them and the endless support and encouragement of my loved ones that I finally decided to embarked upon and complete my personal life long dream of doing a solo recording. Thank you\'s, to all that listened to the CD \'i dig you\'.
