Rite Time the Rite Moment on CD

The Daille Kettrell Group is a unique blend of original music and standards which provide a fresh sound for the audience. If you like hard bop, swinging blues, and soulful ballads, this band is for you. This group features Daille Kettrell on piano, Andy McCloud on bass, Dorian McGee on drums, Freddie Hendrix on trumpet/flugelhorn, and Willie Williams on tenor saxophone. Daille Kettrell has been on her musical journey since 1993 when she founded the group, Rites of Passage. Her intent was to find like minded individuals who shared her vision of wanting to grow musically together performing music that embodied the process of this journey. Rites of Passage performed during the 90's in NY/NJ area clubs/coffeehouses/jazz festivals, including Birdland in New York and the Newark Jazz Festival broadcast on WBGO-FM (88.3) in Newrk, NJ. Daille received an honorable mention for her jazz composition, The Next Plateau in the 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Rites of Passage has morphed into The Daille Kettrell Group. The Daille Kettrell Trio, featuring Miriam Sullivan on bass and Dorian McGee on drums has been performing regularly at the Priory Restaurant in Newark, NJ since 2005, but Daille played there several times before when she was with her former group, Rites of Passage. Her CD release was held there on September 19, 2008. Daille can perform in solo format on piano, or add pieces as needed to the client's taste. Her music can have a hard edge at times, or driving ostinato patterns, and in other cases can be introspective and mellow. This music can best be described as highly sophisticated, but 'good feeling' so that anyone can relate and enjoy. Her musical influences include: Mary Lou Williams, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Dorothy Donegan, Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis, and Count Basie to name a few. What sets Daille apart from other artists is that she is presenting herself in a real, sincere way--she is not one to play just to impress the listener with a whole lot of notes and technique. Daille wants to get a simple message across: making the music SWING is much more important than sounding cerebral. Head-nodding, toe-tapping, finger-snapping--that's what REALLY matters.
