Description

Holiday on CD

After chronicling & critiquing the bohemian experiments of acoustic songwriters in New York City and the northeast in Urban Folk magazine, editor and co-founder Dave Cuomo now puts his music where his mouth is with the high energy indy folk project, Cuomo! Cuomo!'s songs reflect the search for hopeful possibilities in bleak surroundings. Their sound, as a reflection of an early involvement in and love for the DIY punk scene, takes the stripped down energy and simple song structure of The Ramones or The Clash, then applies the lyrical sensibilities and songwriting sophistication of Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel. These elements combined have created an energetic and earthy folk aesthetic steeped with a lyrical quality of honest cynicism and lonely optimism that brings a refreshingly humble approach to socially conscious and political songwriting. Cuomo! Plays venues across New York City such as Pianos, The Knitting Factory, CBs Gallery, Bowery Poetry Club, Stain, Postcrypt Coffeehouse, and anti-folk flagship, The Sidewalk Cafe, while also enjoying the intimacy of a house show, street corner, or subway platform. Cuomo!'s music has simultaneously crossed over into the anti-folk and folk-punk scenes, while taking an active role in the recent wide spread rise of acoustic and roots music. This fall Cuomo! Will be touring nationally following the release of their debut CD, Holiday, on Ever Reviled Records.
