Fascinating Rhythms on CD

Corliss Dale is the singer and Lou Forestieri is the pianist/arranger/producer. True they are bonded in marriage-and a damn good one it is, but from the very start of this venture you are forced into thinking-no; hoping-they would weave their way into that golden oldie "walk right in, sit right down, daddy let your mind roll on" because that's exactly the feeling you get the moment you start listening to this scintillating collaboration. Backed by a small but masterful group of musicians, Lou doesn't just support this gifted singer. He embraces her. And it's a good thing too, because this is not a voice you hear every day. Those who only know Corliss outside of her musical world would doubtless speak of a gentle and retiring personality, but on stage you are both confounded and immediately engaged by her presence. Name the mood and she will take you there. Sometimes smoky, sultry and impudent - sometimes playfully indulgent and kittenish, Corliss can do it all. Even when being nostalgic, such as in "Without a Song", when the group is jauntily swinging, what is she doing? - leisurely taking you there; peeling back the years; placing you smack dab in the moment of truth. When you listen to Lou's sure-to-be-a-standard, original composition "Jazz",lyric by Aubrey Tadman, (brilliantly performed by Lou and company), tell me you're not convinced of this woman's prowess as a singer; then, as a capper, slide over to "What a Little Moonlight Can Do", then let me rest my case with "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me". There is great skill in this recording...'Fascinating Rhythms'. Hang with Corliss Dale for awhile and let her soulful, soothing vocals 'Fascinate' you. Enjoy! James McEachin Writer/Actor.
