For the Painters on CD

Bio Collin Thomas is an experimental musician, percussionist, and composer based in the Kansas City area. While earning his degree in music from Baker University, Thomas conceptualized a new method of musical composition entitled \'The Alphabet Method of Musical Construction,\' which he later self-published in both book form and through his personal website. Always intrigued by the avant-garde and the experimental, he has released many albums, both solo and with his former band, Remember the Limit. Thomas\' new album, for the painter..., is now available on CDBaby, and many online music retailers, including the iTunes Music Store. For the painters... painting and sound, for being so different, have many similarities. Texture. Depth. Rhythm. Tone. Mood. And the endless list of other adjectives applied to one that can be applied to the other. As many have before me, i have attempted to convert the visual to the aural. With all the means of interpretation available to me, the focus of this record tends towards the general moods and ambiances of these artists, for that is what i feel i can most express by my medium. The visual arts have always inspired me, and this is my way of giving back to them for all that these artists have given me. Especially that last one.... ******************IN OTHER WORDS....******************* This is an album of experimental music, incorporating lots of electronics and percussion, with tributes to painters. Think of it like a collaboration between Paul Motion, Ikue Mori, and William Parker. But all played by the same person and then post-processed to make one, cohesive work.
