Classic Detroit Style R&B / Various on CD

Classic Detroit Style R&B, Blues, Jazz, Gospel & Funk This Detroit CD features original performances by the group Bluestown featuring Tee Turner (a present day member of the Motown Singing Group The Miracles) in a soulful performance of "If You Want It (Here It Is)". A song reminiscent of Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Johnny Taylor. Also featured on this CD is former Holland/Dozier/Holland Invictus recording artist and soul music legend Melvin Davis of the 8th Day, Arnell Carmichael from the group Raydio featuring Ray Parker Jr. and longtime Contours member Charles Davis. Allan Barnes former saxophonist from The Blackbyrds is featured thoughout the recording as well of a cache of excellent Detroit performers and musicians including: Jose Hamilton (if you like Marvin Gaye you will Jose' vocal style), Anita Marie Hill, Ping Spells Carl Robinson (guitarist and recording engineer for The Isley Brothers, and R.Kelly), Gerry Mallory, Scott Reo, Diane Mathis, Wyman Brown and former Parlet/ Parliment/Funkedelic vocalist Shirley Hayden who all help this musical voyage maintain a high energy. Famed Motown producer/songwriter/engineer Clay McMurray (best known for Spyder Turner's version of Ben E.King's "Stand By Me" and Gladys Knight & The Pips "If I Were Your Woman") along with Tim King handle the bulk of the production chores. Local popular band Energy MC Square with Ufuoma Wallace are among the featured musicians.
